EKS Project Visible in Paderborn's Cityscape

Anyone strolling along the Pader can’t help but notice the new plaque adorning the natural stone wall at the Dielenpader: After the Pader’s urban river landscape was awarded the European Heritage Label (EHL) in April of this year, the official EHL plaque now hangs next to the Dielenpader—at one of the Pader’s headwaters.

“We thought long and hard about which spot along the Pader would be suitable for the plaque from Brussels,” reports Claudia Warnecke, Deputy Mayor for Technical Affairs and project manager for the application for the seal. “The Dielenpader, as one of the headwaters of this special urban river, seems very fitting to us,” she adds.

“On behalf of the city of Paderborn, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Archdiocese of Paderborn for making this space on their wall available to us,” adds Mayor Stefan-Oliver Strate. “We are delighted that the plaque has now been hung at a location in the headwaters that is attractive to visitors,” explain the program directors of the project “City. People. River. – The Pader for Europe,” Brigitte Zacharias and Dr. Michael Ströhmer.

But it’s not just in the river’s headwaters that interested visitors can experience this European award: The EKS project now also adorns a PaderSprinter bus. “We’re glad that, thanks to the PaderSprinter, we can not only draw attention to our city’s anniversary but also highlight the Pader’s special award,” said the mayor. “The Pader River is as much a part of Paderborn as our buses are part of the cityscape. That’s why we’re very pleased that we can use one of our vehicles to highlight this special award and thus drive a piece of Paderborn’s city history through the streets,” adds Jennifer Jordan, Head of Marketing and Communications at PaderSprinter.
