New Pader tour invites visitors to explore the award-winning urban river landscape

21 May 2026:
Right in the heart of Paderborn, something truly special springs forth: the powerful sources of Germany’s shortest river – the Pader. It is the river from which the city takes its name and is of national significance in many respects. That is why, since spring 2026, the Pader has proudly borne the European Heritage Label (EHL). In keeping with this, the project “City. People. River. – The Pader for Europe’ project, in collaboration with the Tourist Information office, is offering a new guided tour of the Pader. The first tours will take place as part of the ‘Paderkultour 2026’ on Sunday 24 May at 2 pm and 4 pm. They start near the entrance to the City Library and are free of charge on the day.
During the 90-minute guided tour through the award-winning Pader river landscape, visitors can be inspired by various educational and interactive stops and discover the many connections between places, people and the city river with Europe. To this end, a number of guides have been trained by the EKS project team to give participants the opportunity to rediscover their home or get to know it for the first time: the tour opens your eyes to a fascinating aspect of European water culture.
The 90-minute guided tour “European Cultural Heritage in Pader” is available for groups of up to 25 people per guide. The tour can be booked at the Tourist Information office on Königsplatz or online at www.paderborn.de/fuehrungen and costs €85 per group.
