WaterWalk was a great success

Project team and pupils collected donations for the WDR2 Christmas miracle
As part of the WDR2 charity event „Weihnachtswunder 2024” the municipal project team “City.People.River. – The Pader for Europe” of the application for the European Heritage Label 2025 carried out a “WaterWalk” on 17 December. They were accompanied by students of class 7a and several seniors of grammar school Gymnasium Theodorianum on the sponsored, roughly 5 km long walk. Culinary provisions were generously donated by the “Freunde der Pader e.V.” association.
Each person loaded with six litres of Pader water and plenty of motivation, the hiking group made their way from Schloß Neuhaus back to the springs in the centre of Paderborn, with one or two even breaking a little sweat. The “WaterWalk” symbolizes the many walks people (mainly young girls and women) in geographically disadvantaged regions of the world have to endure in order to access water. In the spirit of this year’s Weihnachtswunder theme “Together against hunger in the world” the proud sum of 2,024 € was handed over to the radio host team at the WDR2 glass house at the Domplatz.
Many thanks to everyone who supported our event financially and helped us become part of the beautiful WDR2 Weihnachtswunder 2024.
